Tenmile Rural Fire District Student Intern Program

The Tenmile Fire District’s Student Intern Program is a dynamic opportunity for individuals pursuing careers in emergency services to gain real-world experience in a supportive, high-performance environment. Interns become integral members of the department, participating in:

  • Emergency Response: Ride-alongs and active involvement in fire suppression, EMS calls, and rescue operations.
  • Live Training: Weekly hands-on drills covering structural and wildland firefighting, medical scenarios, and technical rescue skills.
  • Mentorship & Leadership Development: Guided by experienced firefighters, paramedics, and officers, interns receive personalized coaching to build confidence and competence.
  • Community Engagement: Assist with public education events, safety outreach, and district initiatives that strengthen community ties.
  • Professional Growth: Interns are encouraged to pursue certifications, attend regional training academies, and explore advanced coursework with tuition assistance available for qualified individuals.

  3. Describe a time when you had to make a difficult decision—what did you learn about leadership, accountability, or teamwork?
