Tractor Fire

On Teusday July 6th, 2023,  just after 6:00pm, TRFD recieved a phone call to the station regarding a tractor on fire. Personnel were already at the station for drill and quickly went in route as the caller was told to call 911.

Upon arrival, smoke and flames were observed. The crew consisting of seasonal staff and volunteers, quickly went to work pulling a hose line and achieving a quick knock down before the flames engulfed the tractor or spread to surrounding vegetation. Tractor damage was confined to the engine compartment.

This was the second day on shift for our seasonal crew. These seasonal firefighters have been hired for the summer fire season thanks to a upstaffing grant provided to our agency by the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal.

Six personnel responded in an engine, a tender and a command vehicle. The cause of the fire is believed to be a pinhole leak in the fuel lines, with fuel and fumes coming into contact with the heat exhaust. Please note that in an emergency you should call 911. For all questions or non-emergency situations it is appropriate to call the fire department at 541-679-1882.
