About TRFD

The Tenmile Rural Fire District has proudly served the unincorporated communities of Tenmile and Olalla since 1962 when it was formed by a group of community members that identified the need for a local fire protection. The fire district received its first fire truck in 1963, which was a converted dodge log truck. The first fire station was built near the Tenmile store in 1972, at which time only 330 residents resided in the area. The fire department became a fire district on June 30th, 1981.

The services that the district provides have expanded over the years, and today we provide not only structural and wildland fire protection, but we also provide rescue services, motor vehicle accident response and extrication, outreach &  prevention, and BLS/ALS emergency medical first response to an area roughly 20 square miles, with a first due of nearly 60 square miles. Within our district resides an estimated 1000 residential properties and an estimated population of 2,800 people. With a diverse response area, that includes a major highway, a vast agricultural and farming community, and of course a residential population. Our first due area expands several miles outside of our district boundaries along with auto-aid agreements with neighboring jurisdictions.

May contain: human, person, vehicle, truck, and transportation

We provide this critical service through the dedication of volunteers and paid-on-call members, with a few part-time firefighters and EMT's who spend countless hours training and responding all hours of each day and night ready and willing to respond and help their community and neighbors.

Additionally, we are a progressive fire district, always seeking innovative ways to improve our abilities and provide the best protection to our citizens and neighboring agency partners. We strive to be aggressive in our abilities while understanding that our safety is paramount.

The Tenmile Fire District staff includes a Chief, an Assistant Chief, a Training Captain, one Lieutenant and 10 Firefighters, EMS, and support members. All supported by our Board of Directors to ensure the needs of the district are met as efficiently and effectively as possible.
